委員会の紹介

　APMEC 2027 運営特別委員会は、日本医学教育学会がAPMEC Asian Pacific Medical Education Conference (アジア・パシフィック医学教育学会)の招致に成功し、2027年1月13-16日に国立京都国際会館で、シンガポール国立大学 National University of Singapore (NUS)と共同開催するため発足しました。委員は、学術プログラム、財務、総務、広報、ソーシャルプログラムの5つのチームに分かれており、NUSと連携しながら鋭意準備を進めております。

　APMECは、アジア諸国での医療者教育学の発展のため、シンガポール国立大学(NUS)が2003年に初主催し、その後毎年開催されております。原則として１月中下旬にシンガポールで開催されますが、2022年はマレーシアのマラヤ大学主催でオンライン開催、2024年はスリランカのコロンボ大学が主催、2026年は中国浙江省Yiwu義烏（東南の海岸沿い）で開催予定でございます。参加人数はアジア諸国を中心に欧米などを含む世界各国から例年1000人〜1500人となっております。例年、開催国以外の外国人は500人程度が通常です。使用言語は英語となっております。

　APMECは毎年、約10の世界の学術団体とパートナー関係を結んでおります。AMEE (欧州医学教育学会)、Intealth, ACGME (米国卒後臨床研修評価機構)ACCME（米国生涯教育評価機構）、AAMC (米国医科大学協会), IAMSE (国際医科学教育者学会), WPAME (西太平洋アジア医学教育学会), Asian Pacific Medical Education Networkなどになります。

　日本開催の意義として、昨今、教育科学の発展は目覚ましく、本邦も医学、歯学、薬学、看護、医療保健の学部・学科等でも最新の教授法や評価法の導入が望まれます。卒後臨床研修、生涯教育においても教育科学に基づいた最新の方法による学修の普及と確立が課題となっております。中長期的な視点から、APMEC 2027の日本開催により、国内外の最新の知見の共有、学術的・人的交流により、本邦全体の医療者教育の飛躍的な質の向上、それによる患者診療の質の向上と発展に大きく寄与するものと確信しております。多くの方のご参加、ご支援を何卒よろしくお願い申し上げます。

The APMEC 2027 Organizing Committee was established following the successful bid by the Japan Society for Medical Education to host the Asian Pacific Medical Education Conference (APMEC) in Kyoto. The conference will be co-hosted with the National University of Singapore (NUS) and held at the Kyoto International Conference Center from January 13 to 16, 2027.

The committee is divided into five teams—Academic Program, Finance, General Affairs, Public Relations, and Social Program—and is working closely with NUS in preparation for the event.

APMEC was first launched in 2003 by NUS to promote the advancement of health professions education in Asia and has since been held annually. While the conference is typically held in Singapore in mid-to-late January, it has occasionally been hosted elsewhere: in 2022 by the University of Malaya (Malaysia, online), in 2024 by the University of Colombo (Sri Lanka), and in 2026 it is scheduled to be held in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, China.

The conference usually attracts between 1,000 and 1,500 participants from around the world, with about 500 international attendees (outside the host country) each year. The official language of the conference is English.

APMEC partners annually with around ten major international organizations, including AMEE (Association for Medical Education in Europe), Intealth, ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, USA), ACCME (Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, USA), AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges), IAMSE (International Association of Medical Science Educators), WPAME (Western Pacific Association for Medical Education), and the Asian Pacific Medical Education Network, among others.

The significance of hosting APMEC in Japan lies in the rapid advancements in educational sciences. In Japan, there is increasing demand for the introduction of the latest teaching and assessment methods in medical, dental, pharmaceutical, nursing, and allied health education. Similarly, in postgraduate training and continuing professional development, the dissemination and establishment of evidence-based, state-of-the-art educational methods remain an important challenge.

From a long-term perspective, hosting APMEC 2027 in Japan will provide opportunities to share the latest international knowledge, foster academic and personal exchange, and significantly enhance the overall quality of health professions education in the country. Ultimately, this will contribute to improving the quality and advancement of patient care.
